Sefton Park in Liverpool
Sefton Park is one of Liverpool's most-loved green spaces and a great choice for families, walkers and anyone looking for fresh air and plenty to explore in one place. With wide open lawns, historic features and a range of free attractions, it suits all ages and all kinds of visits.
Playground
The park has a large children's playground featuring swings, slides, climbing frames, a roundabout and a multi-play area - a great spot for younger visitors to let off steam.
Boating Lake
The boating lake is a lovely feature of the park. Fishing is welcome with an angling permit, which can be arranged in advance of your visit.
Palm House
The Palm House is a stunning Victorian glasshouse at the heart of the park and a hub for events, from artisan fairs to tea dances. Well worth a look whether or not there is something on during your visit.
Caves, waterfalls and Fairy Glen
One of Sefton Park's most fun features for children is the network of caves and waterfalls to explore. Old Nick's caves, the Fairy Glen and the Aviary viewing point are all popular spots and add a real sense of adventure to a walk around the park.
Statues and monuments
The park is home to a number of historic statues and monuments, including the Grade II listed Shaftsbury Memorial, the Eros Fountain and a Peter Pan statue - all worth seeking out as you explore.
Bandstand
The Victorian bandstand is a well-known landmark within the park and is said to have inspired The Beatles' song Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Walking and running
Sefton Park is a brilliant place for walking, running and exploring at your own pace. A marked 3k route takes in the Eros Fountain, the Palm House and lakeside views, making it a great option for a gentle run or a guided stroll.
Cafes
There are two cafe options in the park - the Aviary Cafe serving hot and cold drinks and refreshments, and the Lakeside Cafe for a coffee or ice cream during your visit.
